Apple has stopped verifying the iOS 18.2 update, meaning that iPhone users who have upgraded to iOS 18.2.1 will not be able to downgrade back to iOS 18.2.

Note: Apple usually stops verifying older versions of iOS within a few weeks of the release of a new version, and iphones cannot install unverified versions due to software verification checks on the server side.

Apple's iOS 18.2 was released in December 2024 and mainly added a second wave of Apple Intelligence features such as Image Playground, Siri ChatGPT integration, and Genmoji.

Apple stopped validating older versions of iOS as part of its routine efforts to improve the security of users' devices and ensure that users can experience the latest features and bug fixes. Stopping the verification of iOS 18.2 means that iOS 18.2.1 is the lowest version of iOS 18 that can be installed.
